Reno Council Meeting: Important Rezoning Vote on Sept 8

On MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8th at 7:00 P.M.

City Hall
195 W. Reno Road,
Azle, Texas 76020-6001

The City of Reno will be making a decision to approve or deny the rezoning of 603 acres on S. Reno Road from Single Family Residential and Agriculture to a high density planned development.

The current plan shows the developer putting 2028 lots on the 603 acres which is clearly over the 1 acre lot minimum (that most City of Reno residents supported via a previous Ordinance). It also shows and entrance thru Jackson Trail, past Cross Timbers Elementary.

Hills of Walnut Creek by Westwood an Lee Hughes.

Supporters of this massive land development commented at the recent Planning and Zoning meeting that will drill wells if necessary to support this development, and clear cut the existing forest with no regard for drainage or existing wildlife, and come down Jackson Trail with Ambulances and Fire Trucks at minimum though there will be no stopping all neighborhood traffic from using this entrance.

No studies related to traffic, water, wildlife, drainage have been done.   Comments were made is support of this development at the recent Planning and Zoning meeting that the developer should be able to do whatever they want to do to the property!

Isn’t that why we have a City- to protect the interests of the existing residents?

The Reno Planning and Zoning Board has approved this request at the recent meeting on Aug 25th.  As a result, it is critical that you attend the meeting on Monday, Sept 8th at 7:00 p.m. Reno City Hall at 195 W. Reno Road and voice your opinion to change the current City of Reno zoning on this property.

In the meantime, voice your opposition to this development to Reno City Council members.

Ask them to deny this latest attempt by the developer to resubmit the same plans we have previously protested and uphold the will of their residents at 1 acre lot minimum.

Ask them to adopt the same ordinance Azle has in place for 1 acre lots minimum no any Planned Developments that seek to skirt current City Zoning requirements.

Please make your opinions known to them, to your County Commission, George Conley, and to Charlie Geren.  See links below for their contact information.
